Duotone Foil Assist Bearing

The Duotone Foil Assist Bearing is a replacement stainless steel bearing for the Foil Assist drive unit. The motor uses four bearings to support the motor bell and allow the propeller assembly to rotate smoothly.

Bearings naturally wear over time and should be inspected regularly. Unusual motor noise, increased vibration, resistance, or rough rotation may indicate that one or more bearings need to be replaced.

Installation

Replacing the bearing requires the Duotone Foil Assist Bearing Removal Tool. The removal tool is included with the Foil Assist Maintenance Tool Kit, sold separately.

Refer to the Duotone Help Center instructions before disassembling or servicing the drive unit.

Care and Maintenance

Rinse the bearing and drive-unit components thoroughly with fresh water after every saltwater session. Allow all components to dry completely before storage.

After drying, apply a thin layer of WD-40 Specialist Penetrant or an equivalent marine-grade penetrating lubricant to help protect the bearing and extend its service life.

Important: Do not operate the Foil Assist if the motor produces unusual noises, excessive vibration, or does not rotate smoothly. Inspect the bearings and drive unit before further use.
