Updating your Fliteboard or Flitescooter:
The Fliteboard or Flitescooter must be connected to the Flite App first.
Please follow these steps to connect and update your device.
Ensure the Fliteboard is powered on and the lid is closed. Turn off the Flite controller if it is turned on. This is very important as the Flite App can only connect to one device at a time and cannot connect to a Fliteboard if the controller is already connected to it.
Pro Tip: Ensure your phone and Flitecell have at least 20% charge.
Open the Flite App and navigate to the "Devices" page. Select your Fliteboard from the list of available Fliteboards. When connected, the eFoils LEDs will turn purple.
Pro Tip: Only have one Fliteboard powered on at a time. This will make it much easier to find the correct device.
3. Once connected you can perform software updates and sync session rides. If a software update is available there will be an orange "Update" icon. If session data is found there will be a large "Sync Now" orange icon. Please sync your Session data to share with your friends, review your rides, and help Flite improve your experience.
Pro Tip: In the Flite App you can change the unit settings & create Fly Zones.
Pro Tip: Keep the phone close and in line of sight with the Fliteboard. Don't use the phone for anything else while the update is in progress. Do not allow the screen to turn off during an update.
Updating your Flite Controller: The next step is to connect your Flite controller to the Flite App.
It is important to note that the Fliteboard needs to be connected to the Flite App first. If you haven't connected a Fliteboard to your Flite App, the Flite controller won't be visible.
Ensure your Flite controller is powered on and your Fliteboard is powered off.
Open the Flite App and navigate to the "Devices" page. Select your Flite controller from the list of available controllers.
Pro Tip: Only have one Flite controller powered on at a time.
Pro Tip: If the Flite controller is not visible or you need to force update the controller, then the controller can be put in DFU mode. To do this hold the "Minus" button down until the screen turns off, approximately seven seconds. Please note if the controller is not connected to the Flite App and an update started within 30 seconds, the controller will restart.
Once connected you can perform software updates. If a software update is available there will be an orange "Update" icon. Click on the update icon and follow the onscreen prompts.
Pro Tip: Perform a trigger calibration after performing any software updates on your Flite controller. To perform a trigger calibration, please follow these steps:
Hold the "Minus & Mode buttons" down for 3 seconds, or until "Trigger Calibration" is displayed.
As soon as "Trigger Calibration" is displayed, release the buttons and follow the on-screen prompt.

Software Feature Description & Guide
Setting km/miles and° C/° F (FliteApp)
Measurement units can be changed through theFlite App. Connect the App to yourFlite Controller and select settings. You can now change how time, distance, speed and temperature are displayed while you ride.
Changing settings on theFlite Controller
To change settings, first, connect the Flite Controller to the eFoil. Please note: These settings will be stored for your next ride.
On the Flite controller, Hold the mode button for 3 seconds until the settings menu appears. Click the mode button until the setting you want to change appears. Use the plus and minus buttons to find the setting you want and then press mode again to store it.
When you are done changing your settings, hold mode for 3 seconds to return to your normal screens.
Prop Mode (Setting)
Prop Mode offers the classic controller setting with the Prop Module fitted. This is optimised for use with the Flite Propeller and allows for slightly higher RPM's than the Jet aswell as faster riding. Prop mode is compatible with Flite Prop, Flite Folding Prop and True Glide Propeller.
Please note Jets cannot be used in Prop Mode and may result in damage to your Module.
Jet mode (Setting)
The Flite Jet offers the safest and smoothest propulsion option. For the Flite jet we have introduced two drive modes, which can be changed via the Flite Controller.
Jet mode:optimizes the motor drive for the Jet for best performance, and for safety and longevity of your Fliteboard.
Jet boost: adds an additional boost of power at take-off to get you planing, automatically backing off the power once you're up.. This increases your effective gear by 3 for 10 seconds. Once accustomed to it, the Jet Boost can be really helpful for getting up to speed quickly.
Once set, "Jet" will be displayed on the Speed/Gear screen. See Changing settings above for how to enter these modes.
Light Rider mode (Setting)
Following feedback fromFliteschools, we have implemented aLlight rider mode which is great for beginners who find gear 1 too fast.
If the rider typically rides in low gears, e.g. 1-3, Light Rider mode will provide them more lower gears at smaller increments to optimise their ride and give them more control (e.g. 1-10), while still allowing full power in gear 20.
Time Zone (Setting)
The Controllers come standard set on mean Greenwich time. Add your additional hours by pressing plus or minus in the time setting in the controller.
Wave mode (Feature)
Riding waves unpowered is a fun way of challenging yourself. The wave mode is a feature that keeps your motor armed when you are riding above 12.5km/h unpowered (8 mph)
First practice in a controlled environment in calm waters. Practice by riding around 25km and releasing the trigger. Once you have let go of the trigger you will then need to shift your weight onto your back foot to keep the weight over the wing. This will continue your momentum over the water and keep you foiling. Practice coming back onto the throttle by shifting your weight back forward and slowly squeezing the trigger. By shifting your weight forward and downward pressure on your front foot, this will prevent you from being bucked off the back of the board.
Trigger Calibration (Setting)
This is performed by pressing the minus – button and the mode button (3 dots) at the same time. The controller will prompt you to hold in the trigger and then release it after a certain time period. This calibrates the 100% and 0% of trigger and allows for more precise readings especially with the long throw trigger.
Trigger Calibrations should be periodically completed as well as used as a troubleshooting step.
Scooter Settings and Safety Aids:
Scooter mode (Pre-loaded)
We have implemented the following features to help you have a safe and enjoyable experience on Flitescooter:
— Draw Fly Zones on the app to help avoid shallow water.
— Speed limiter.
— Wireless safety key to cut off power when you are not on the board.
Your Flitescooter eFoil can be ridden as a Fliteboard eFoil, if not using the handlebars, by changing the settings on the Flite Controller. Note each time the Flite Controller is turned off and back on it will revert back to the original settings of the Flitescooter.
Wireless safety key (Feature)
The wireless safety key cuts off power when you are not on the board. There is no need to pair the safety key the Flite Controller will find it automatically.
Strap it on to your wrist and press the face (Flite logo) when near the Flite Controller. You will see "Safety Key Detected" appear on the Flite Controller display.
When the wireless safety coin cell is running low, a message will appear on the Flite Controller display. This will give you enough warning to finish your ride and replace the coin cell.
