North x Foil Drive Sonar AF80  Integrated Mast

Experience electric-assisted hydrofoiling with minimal drag, improved ride feel, and enhanced efficiency. The Sonar AF80 Foil Drive Integrated Masts have a Foil Drive Motor Pre-Installed to the mast at one of three positions. An FDE-FOIL offers a complete E-Foil experience with the motor positioned near the fuselage, while an FDA20 and FDA15 are positioned as a “Foil Assist” with the motor closer to the board.

The motor generates thrust to provide enough speed to lift up onto foil, and when the motor exits the water, your foil takes over. With the FDA20 the motor is attached 20cm from the top of the base plate. This means the motor will be submerged for longer, giving you more mast to utilize while under power and making it easier to travel upwind or clear the top of waves. 

The FDA15 is positioned 15cm from the baseplate, giving more advanced riders the benefit of the motor staying higher out of the water once you're on foil, so you can perform more radical maneuvers without the propeller touching the water. These masts not only simplify installation, but significantly improve ride-feeling and efficiency.

The Integrated masts simplify installation and significantly improve ride feeling and efficiency. With the motor wiring fully internal, the motor is less noticeable both when riding powered and on foil, so you can enjoy uninterrupted foiling plus the benefit of electric assistance. 

Note: The motor is fixed into position on each mast and cannot be removed or changed. All Sonar AF80 Foil Drive Integrated Masts are available from Foil Drive dealers.
